How To Handle Stress Like Jesus

Are you feeling stressed out, running on empty, or maybe even anxious? Trust me, you’re not alone, and we’ve all been there. While it’s easy to say “Just don’t worry about it!”, it’s easier said than done. Let’s take a look at how Jesus handled stress and see what we can learn from Him.

  1. He sought God’s presence.

How do we know Jesus looked for God’s presence? If He is God, isn’t he already with God? Yes, but the bible tells us that “He Himself often withdrew into the wilderness and prayed.” (Luke 5:16). If Jesus needed time alone with God, we do too. You can bet He was under a lot of stress, more than we can imagine, but He continually sought God’s presence to give Him peace.

  2. He gave God praise.

A grateful heart truly changes our perspective. No matter what circumstance you’re in, if you’re in God’s hands, you are safe. Nahum 1:7 (NIV) says, “The Lord is good, a refuge in times of trouble. He cares for those who trust in him.” When we trust God, we draws close to us and carries our burdens.

  3. He knew God was sovereign.

God’s sovereignty means “He is absolute in authority and unrestricted in His supremacy.” Even Jesus had questions about God’s plan, but He trusted that He was in control. Even though Jesus knew God’s plan would be carried out, He didn’t hesitate to tell the Father how He felt.

So if you’re feeling nervous and stressed, remember to trust, praise, and seek time with God. Jesus is a good listener, and he’s felt what you’re feeling. So tell Him about it and cast your burdens onto Him. He wants to carry them for you!
